Roy (Tattoo - ID pending)'s Story
Roy was saved from slaughter when HiCaliber rescued him from the Ontario Auction on April 5, 2016.
Roy is a former racehorse who came to us severely emaciated. He spent a couple months in foster where he blossomed and prepared for training. He's an Englishy horse who is just crossing into Western/trail. He is fabulous but gets overwhelmed with large groups of trail buddies. He does best with just one other horse on trail (for now). We will work him up to more sensory as he progresses. He's 16.2, about 20 years old and gorgeous. A big smooshy, snuggly boy...we are all in love. He needs front shoes due to a chop job by a farrier before HiCaliber but they won't be necessary forever. Goes bitless with ease. We think an advanced beginner or up would be great match for Mr. Roy. He prefers English but we are working on Western with him as well.
Kat did Roy's test ride. She said he feels like an old school horse. He was super mellow. Has a natural, lower headset. They jogged around the round pen, he had no idea what the rope halter was so steering was tough at first. He has a short stride. Listens really well to voice commands while lunging. They walked down and around vineyard, needed a little coaxing walking through the ditch but was great. They stopped and hung out down there. He is a super mellow, INCREDIBLY sweet guy!
