Chi's Story

Chi was saved from slaughter when HiCaliber rescued her from the Ontario Auction on February 23, 2016.

Update:  August 17, 2016
A lot has happened since this cute little girl walked onto our ranch.
Chi was an auction save in February with several feral young yearlings. We all just assumed she was a youngin' too! She participated in Erika Hunters VC Youth To The Rescue program where her 11-year-old trainer taught her to lead, trailer, and do liberty work. After the program was done we took another look at Ms. Chi's teeth. Imagine our surprise when we were told she is 6-10 years old!

Our youth trainer trained a feral ADULT horse! Now that we know she is NOT a yearling Erika and one of her teen trainers have started her under saddle in just under 30 days of work! This young trainer has quiet the magic touch and needs little of Erika's help, Erika loves watching her patiently ask the horses for a step here or there and rewarding every effort. Chi has flourished with her kind attention.

She has desensitized her, taught her to lunge properly and pick up her feet, be tacked up and be bridled (soft in a bit and/or in a halter).

Next up is ground driving and then actual riding. Right now she is doing dead man hangs while someone leads her and being sat on with no problem
